Three Tenors In The Park 2011
Concerts
Three Tenors in the Park was this years conclusion of the legendary Scarborough Spa Orchestras summer season of outdoor classical music concerts for 2011. Performances at Peasholm Park, Scarborough, North Yorkshire during the summer months each year has once again found the orchestra up to their usual high standards which has seen them perform many times on national radio and television here in the UK.
Sound Hire
Our expert team was once again this year as in previous years on hand to provide and engineer one of our custom designed sound reinforcement systems to compliment all the performers, as we have been the orchestras preferred audio equipment supplier since the inception of these concerts in the park several years ago.
Challenges
This venue is one of the most difficult to distribute an even high quality of sound. This is due to the orchestra being placed on an open fronted, surrounded on three sides by glass, square band stand in the middle of a lake, which as it happens is far from acoustically ideal believe it or not? This along with the audience seating starting from the very edge of the lake and covering an area in excess of 100mtrs across to 50mtrs back means the usual way of providing high quality sound reinforcement almost requires rewriting the sound engineers handbook so to speak, at least when it comes to loudspeaker placement and delays among other things. All this and just a couple of hours to set up and rehearse completes this particular challenge.
Equipment
We use a combination of specialist microphones for both orchestra and singers alike including Condenser, Dynamic and Ribbon microphones, all of which are linked to the sound system by way of one of our radio/wireless system set ups. Unlike most sound equipment providers we don't always use the standard microphones others stick to as we try to recreate as accurately as possible, the exact sound each instrument and voice creates.
This year we introduced one of the very latest digital audio mixers. After careful consideration these were sourced from a manufacturer not really known for this type of product. However this particular product is one of the few that can truly recreate the complete dynamic range classical music produces. This new equipment has only become available this year and has been a great success which has further complimented the rest of this sound reinforcement system.
Conclusion
We at Sound Hire like to do things a little differently from the rest, and by the comments we often receive from even the most critical of clients, we are more than up to the task because we care about what we do. Our aim is to consistently achieve the most accurate and pleasing sound to every member of the audience whatever the event/production. Experience and expertise makes all the difference in the end.
